Softball Takes Two more from Glendale to go 4-0 Against the Gauchos this Season!

Cleland's Walk-off Picture Perfect Ending In Softball's Victory Over Glendale in Game 1. GateWay took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with  a 2-1 walk-off victory over Glendale .  The game was tied at one with the Geckos batting in the bottom of the eighth when Kaidiance Cleland singled on a 1-0 count, scoring the winning run. Glendale knotted the game up at one in the top of the fifth inning, when Lexie Kline singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Kelly Katalbas struck out nine, while MJ Bannon sat down four. Katalbas was the winning pitcher for GateWay. Katalbas went eight innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out nine and walking one. Mj lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four and walking zero.
 
Katalbas, Rosalie Celaya, Cleland, Anatarez Sierra, and Angelina Martinez each collected one hit to help the Geckos secure the win.
 
 
GateWay Grabbed the Lead in the Sixth Inning of Game 2 to Complete the 4 Game Sweep Over Glendale. The Geckos snagged a late lead and defeated Glendale 4-3 on Saturday.  The game was tied at two with GateWay batting in the bottom of the sixth when Kaidiance Cleland singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
The Geckos got things started in the first inning when Anatarez Sierra singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Glendale knotted the game up at two in the top of the fifth inning, when Bella Serratos doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Kelly Katalbas pitched GateWay to victory. The pitcher allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Machado led things off on the rubber for Glendale. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out two and walking zero.
 
Katalbas, Amaya Porch, Rebekka Nance, Leticia Herrera, Victoria Mendoza, Cleland, Jasmine Cardenas, Sierra, and Angelina Martinez each managed one hit for the Geckos. GateWay didn't commit a single error in the field.
 
The Lady Geckos are back in action this week as they face Pima at home on Tuesday, games at 1 and 3pm, and at Mesa on Saturday, games at 12 and 2p.
