Raenan Padilla Drives in Four as the Geckos Win Over the Coyotes in 7!
Raenan Padilla would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Friday, driving in four on three hits to lead GateWay past CGCC Chandler-Gilbert 14-4 in seven innings.  Padilla drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the seventh. The Geckos earned the victory despite allowing the Coyotes to score four runs in the second inning.  
 
CG got things started in the second inning, score four runs. GateWay pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning.  In the third Diego Trujillo singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, Kevynn Fernandez doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Padilla singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Geckos notched six runs in the seventh inning.  Padilla, Kaeden Moore, Trey Winget, and Macs Carrillo all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
 
Zach Martinez earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for the Geckos. The bulldog went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out two.  Isaac Rehfield threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. The left pulled GW out of a tight bases loaded situation in the fifth and allowed no hits or runs to earn the save for the game. Patrick Morris led things off on the hill for Chandler-Gilbert. He allowed 13 hits and eight runs over five and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.  
 
GateWay totaled 17 hits in the game.  Dominick Cassell, Padilla, Moore, and Carrillo each managed multiple hits for the Geckos.  Carrillo, Moore, Padilla, and Cassell each managed three hits to lead GateWay.
 
Baseball is back in action Saturday night, April 15th at CGCC to finish the series. First pitch at 6pm.
