Pitchers Dual in Game 1 and Extra Inning Win in Game 2 as Baseball Splits with Arizona Western

Game 1-

Pitchers Duel In Low-Scoring Affair, GateWay Falls to Arizona Western. Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, but Arizona Western was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over GateWay. Andres Gonzalez started the game for the Geckos and recorded ten outs. The righthander allowed four hits and one run over three and a third innings.  Isaac Rehfield threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Jorge Carvaja was on the hill for AWC. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.

 The one hit in the game for the Geckos was a single by Raenan Padilla in the sixth inning. The Matadors collected six hits in the first game.
 
 
Game 2-
 
GateWay Claims Lead in Extra Innings to Defeat Arizona Western. The Geckos took the lead late in the game in a 7-6 victory over AWC on Tuesday in game 2. The game was tied at six in the top of the eleventh when Jeffrey Martz hit a solo homer to give GateWay the lead. Bats blistered as the Geckos collected 19 hits and Arizona Western tallied 15 in the high-scoring game. The Matadors got things started in the first inning when Tyler Leroy drove in one. GateWay tallied three runs in the fifth inning. The batters contributing to the big inning included Trujillo, Kevynn Fernandez, and James Warren, all driving in runs in the frame. After the Geckos scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Arizona Western answered with two of their own.  GateWay scored in the 6th when Diego Trujillo singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.  The Matadors then answered when Wesley Estrella homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. In the top of the ninth inning, GateWay tied things up at six when Trujillo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. 
 
Kyle Cop got the start for GateWay. The righthander allowed ten hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Juan Gil Franco was on the mound for Arizona Western. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on nine hits and walking zero.  Micky Scheetz and Michael Riley threw in relief for the Geckos. Both pitchers had three strikeouts a piece over three and a third and three innings respectively. 
 
The Geckos socked one home run on the day. Martz went yard in the eleventh inning to secure GateWay the lead. Trey Winget, Trujillo, Martz, Kaeden Moore, and Fernandez all collected multiple hits for GateWay, collecting three hits each to lead the team.
