Baseball Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning for Big Victory Over Okotok Dawgs
GateWay stole the lead late and defeated Okotok 18-5 on Monday.  GateWay captured the lead in the second inning after Braden Watkins's sac fly scored one run. The Dawgs knotted the game up at four in the top of the fifth inning, when Benito Bonilla grounded out, scoring one run. The game was tied at four with the Geckos batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored the first run. GateWay went on to secure the victory thanks to ten runs in the sixth inning.  The Geckos big bats in the inning were led by triples by Diego Alvarado and Trey Winget, a walk by Nathan Greene, a single by Macs Carrillo, a sacrifice fly by Braden Watkins, an error on a ball put in play by Jeffrey Martz, and a double by Marcus Lucas. Greene's walk scored one run, Lucas' double on a 1-2 count, scored two runs, Watkins's sac fly scored one run for, Alvarado's triple on a 3-2 count, scored one run, Carrillo's single on a 3-2 count, scored one run, and Winget's tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scored three runs. GateWay tallied 13 hits.  Lucas and Carrillo both managed multiple hits for the Geckos collecting two hits each.
 
Conor Thiele stated on the mound for the Geckos. The righty went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out two.  Tyler Smith threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Brandon LeBlanc led things off on the hill for the Dawgs. LeBlanc went three and a third innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out three.
