Baseball Cruised to a 12-2 Victory Over Scottsdale Post Grad on Wednesday

Baseball Cruised to a 12-2 Victory Over Scottsdale Post Grad on Wednesday. They opened up scoring in the first inning, and continued scoring in the second and third innings as well. Their big inning came in the fifth inning where they scored six runs.  Jeff Martz, Nathan Greene, James Warren, Macs Carrillo, and Raenan Padilla all drove in runs in the sixth.

Noah Olson started the game for GateWay. The righthander went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out four and walking one. Conor Thiele was the winning pitcher for the Geckos. Thiele lasted two innings, striking out three and walking zero.  Aiden Patterson and Mickey Scheetz entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Evan Stratton took the loss for SPG. Stratton went four innings, allowing ten runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking one.

The Geckos tallied one home run on the day. Braden Watkins had an in the park homer in the seventh inning. The team totaled 14 hits on the day.  Kaeden Moore, Greene, and Carrillo all collected multiple hits for GateWay.  Moore led the way with three hits in four at bats inlcuding a triple in the third inning.  The Geckos tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. 

Baseball starts conference play on Friday, February 10 against PVCC at home. First pitch at 3pm.
