Geckos Drop Game to Salt Lake CC

The Geckos fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-2 loss to Salt Lake CC on Friday.  Salt Lake CC took the lead on a single in the first inning.

 

The Bruins fired up the offense in the first inning, when Daniel Gonzalez singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

 

The Bruins scored three runs in the third inning.  The big inning came thanks to a sacrifice fly by Gonzalez and a double by Jaxon Weatherly.

 

Kyle Keyes led things off on the hill for the Bruins. Keyes allowed eight hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

 

Zach Martinez led things off on the mound for The Geckos. The hurler lasted three innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out five.  Andres Gonzalez, Isaac Rehfield, Conor Thiele, and Noah Olson each entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings, one and two-thirds innings, one inning, and one inning respectively.

 

The Geckos had nine hits in the game.  Nolan Kutcher and Diego Trujillo all managed multiple hits.  Kutcher went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the way in hits.

 

The Bruins saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game.  Trey Gambill, Gonzalez, and Chip Beck each racked up multiple hits for Salt Lake CC.  Gambill led with three hits in three at bats.  The Bruins didn't commit a single error in the field.
