Shutout Win for the Geckos

The Geckos defeated Lamar community college 10-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Kyle Cop put an exclamation point on the game with a punch out.

 

The Geckos secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning.  Diego Alvarado, Macs Carrillo, Jeff Martz, and Braden Watkins all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

 

Jake Geis earned the win for the Geckos. The righthander went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking zero.  Cop threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

The Geckos smacked one home run on the day. Watkins went deep in the seventh inning.

 

The Geckos collected eight hits on the day.  Watkins and Martz each collected multiple hits for the team.  Martz and Watkins each managed two hits to lead the Geckos.  The Geckos didn't commit a single error in the field. Nathan Greene had the most chances in the field with ten.
