Come from behind win to get the series sweep from the Artichokes

The Geckos nabbed the lead late in the game in a 12-11 victory over Artichokes on Saturday.  The game was tied at nine with GateWay batting in the top of the eighth when Treston Shallenberger singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Both offenses were strong at the plate as GW collected 15 hits each on the day and Scottsdale had 14 hits in the contest.  Artichokes opened up scoring in the first inning, when Cade Nelson doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. After GateWay scored one run in the top of the ninth, Artichokes answered with one of their own.  With GateWay down 8-0 heading into the 7th inning and that is when the bats came alive. The Geckos scored 5 in the 7th to make it an 8-5 game. Scottsdale answered back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. The Geckos came back and put up 6 in the 8th inning to take their first lead of the day at 11-9. The Artichokes answered back again with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 11-10. GW got a run on a wild pitch in the top of the 9th which proved to be the difference maker as the Geckos held on in the bottom of the 9th for a 12-11 win. Isaac Rehfield was on the mound for GateWay Geckos Baseball 22. The lefthander went three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking zero. The Geckos tallied 14 hits on the day.  Daniel Johnson, Braedon Stoakes, Eliazar Torres, and Kaeden Moore all had multiple hits for GateWay.  Johnson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Geckos in hits on the day.
