Come from behind win to complete the weekend sweep

The Geckos snagged a late lead and defeated Mesa Community College 9-7 on Saturday.  GateWay was down 6-0 through 4 innings and cut the lead down 6-5 in the top of the sixth inning when Nomar Basurto homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Both offenses were strong at the plate as GateWay collected nine hits and Mesa Community College 11 in the high-scoring affair. Mesa Community College got things moving in the first inning, when L Danielewicz doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Geckos pulled away for good with seven runs in the sixth inning.  In the sixth an error scored two runs for GateWay, Treston Shallenberger tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Ty Mead was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, and Daniel Johnson drew a walk, scoring one run. Zach Martinez got the start for GateWay Geckos Baseball 22. The bulldog allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one. C Vercoe was on the hill for Mesa Community College. The pitcher surrendered two runs on four hits over five innings, striking out three.  M Torres and A Alger entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively. Shallenberger led the Geckos with three hits in five at bats.  GateWay tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases and stole right on the day. Braedon Stoakes led the way with two.
