Six runs in the ninth inning led the Geckos past Chandler Gilbert CC 9-2 on Saturday.  Marcus Lucas, Nomar Basurto, Gabe Preble, and Braedon Stoakes each had RBIs in the big inning.

GateWay got on the board in the first inning.  Stoakes drove in Treston Shallenberger when Stoakes singled. Next hitter Dylan Fesperman launched a 2 run homer to left field to give the Geckos a 3-0 lead only 3 hitters into the game.

The Geckos tallied six runs in the ninth inning.  Lucas, Basurto, Preble, and Stoakes each had RBIs in the frame.

Cade Nelson was credited with the victory for GateWay. The freshman right hander was brilliant in his start. Nelson only allowed three hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out ten.  Mickey Scheetz threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Scheetz recorded the last ten outs to earn the save for GateWay.

Carlos Rico started the game for Chandler Gilbert. The righthander surrendered three runs on two hits over one-third of an inning.  Brendyn Bryan, Trey Peters, and Jimmie Buhl each contributed in relief for Chandler Gilbert.
