Geckos shut out El Paso CC 6-0.

The Geckos defeated El Paso CC 6-0 on Sunday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Zach Martinez struck out J Campa to finish off the game. GateWay pulled off the big victory without ever scoring many runs in an inning. The most they scored was two in any one inning. The Geckos got things moving in the second inning, when Dylan Fesperman homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. One bright spot for El Paso CC was a single by K Dutka in the first inning. Cade Nelson was on the mound for GateWay in his first collegiate start. The righty lasted six innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out five to earn the victory.  Michael Riley came in the threw the 7th and 8th innings while striking out 4 only allowing 1 hit. A Sanchez led things off on the mound for El Paso CC. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two.  J Galindo and R Ferniza entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively. The Geckos smacked one home run on the day. Fesperman went deep in the second inning. Kaeden Moore led the Geckos with two hits in three at bats. El Paso CC tallied five hits on the day.  Dutka and N Ochoa each racked up multiple hits for El Paso CC.
