Meet GateWay Softball Head Coach, Kim Voisard

Where did you go to school?

I grew up in Southern California. I was born in Santa Ana, grew up in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area.

How did you get into softball? When did you start?

I think I was 4 or 5 when I started playing , my dad fudged my age to start me sooner.

What is your favorite thing about coaching?

My relationships with my players. Giving them everything and every piece of advice I wish I had. Building, encouraging, and training my players to reach their maximum potential. Building a healthy culture of integrity, great work ethic, and unity.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Inspiring and loving my players, and teaching them to do the same.

What is your coaching philosophy?

Tenacity, Integrity, Work Ethic, and Unity...building champions on and off the field.

What?s the greatest lesson you?ve learned from being a coach? Try to contain my intensity when possible. Sometimes I'm a little too much for others. I have intensity and tenacity that just doesn't quit. I am a fighter, it's who I am

How will the GateWay softball program balance the busy schedules of student-athletes including academics, other sports, and club teams?

I am beginning to teach my players how to be young women of integrity. Balance comes with making sacrifices where it's needed and managing their time according to what they have committed to individually, to their team, and to me.

Any hobbies outside of coaching?

I love the beach, though I live in the desert! Prayer groups, adventures, and spending time with my children.

Most influential person in your life?

Well in the flesh, probably my dear friend Yolanda who has stood with me through dark days with my autistic son. My Lord, my God, my King...Jesus.

If you weren't a coach, what would you be?

Some sort of creative! As well, as an entrepreneur (I've got hundreds of ideas). Creative property developer, actress, and interior decorator creating fun rooms and spaces inside and outside the home.
