Men's Soccer Comes From Behind to Defeat Chandler-Gilbert in Thrilling Win!

The GateWay Geckos Men's Soccer team edged out Chandler-Gilbert in a thrilling 3-2 victory on Saturday, September 21st. The match was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading goals throughout the contest. The Coyotes got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Eli Conde in the 28th minute. CGCC followed that goal up with a second goal by Junior Ndeyenou in the 60th minute. The Geckos got on the board late in the second half when Jenjinny Jeanty scored an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute. In the 80th minute of play GateWay would tie it up 2-2 off a cornerkick by Gabrial Silvas with Ahmed Yahiyia finding the net. The Geckos locked in the win in the 87th minute of play in incredible style when Joshua Gutierrez hit the goal post on a free kick and Jenjinny Jeaunty was their to collect the rebound and score the game winning goal!  

Despite multiple yellow cards for both teams, the game remained competitive until the final whistle. GateWay's defense led by Max Chilczuk, Christian Argomaniz, and Adrian Almanza held strong throughout the game to keep the score close. In the end, GateWay's ability to capitalize on their opportunities proved to be the difference, securing a hard-fought win.

GateWay starts the second half of their season play tonight as they face off once again against the Glendale Gauchos. Kickoff is at 530pm at Glendale CC Stadium.
