Softball Beats Chandler-Gilbert

Gateway softball team put on a dominant offensive display, defeating Chandler-Gilbert by a score of 8-2 on Tuesday. The game was a showcase of timely hitting and strong pitching by Kelly Katalbas. The Gateway offense wasted no time getting on the board. Jessica Wallace led the way with a one-run single in the first inning. The Coyotes answered back with two runs in the third. The Geckos answered back with one run in the fourth to tie the game at two apiece. The offense really opened up for GateWay in the sixth inning when Allison Froese, Leticia Herrera, Ariana Lloyd, Madison Brandon, and Jessica Wallace all collected RBI's, propelling Gateway to a comfortable lead. Rebekka Nance hit a double and Gabriella Cicchillo hit a triple during the game as well. Overall, Gateway pounded out 12 hits, showcasing their depth at the plate.

In the circle, Kelly Katalbas was lights out for Gateway. She pitched a complete game, allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out nine batters. Katalbas effectively controlled the Chandler-Gilbert offense, keeping them off balance throughout the game. 

The Lady Geckos finish their season off this Friday in a double header match up against Glendale. The games will be held at 10am and 12n at Mesa Community College.
