WALK OFF! Geckos win in 11 innings

A walk-off led GateWay past Chandler Gilbert 6-5 on Friday.  The game was tied at five with the Geckos batting in the bottom of the eleventh when Eliazar Torres was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Chandler Gilbert scored three runs in the tenth inning, but GW still managed to pull out the victory.  The big inning for the Chandler Gilbert Coyotes came thanks to singles by Devon de Vera and Jamison Armstrong.

Chandler Gilbert got things started in the first inning.  Patrick Donovan grounded out into a double play but still was able to knock in one run.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, the Geckos tied things up at five when Kaeden Moore doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Carson Jacobs was on the pitcher's mound for GateWay. The pitcher surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out four.

Talon Brown toed the rubber for Chandler Gilbert. The righthander went two innings, allowing one run on two hits and walking one.  Tally Wright, CJ Burrell, Seth Thompson, and Sam Roberts each entered the game as relief, throwing six and a third innings, one inning, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

The Geckos collected ten hits on the day.  Treston Shallenberger and Marcus Lucas each had multiple hits for GateWay.  Lucas and Shallenberger all had two hits to lead GateWay. de Vera went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Chandler Gilbert in hits.
